Environment Canada is warning of heavy rain until Monday.

A growing low pressure system is forecast to soak southern and central Ontario on Sunday.  Several rounds of rain, and thunderstorms are expected. Total rainfalls anywhere from 20 to 40 mm are expected through Monday before it tapers off.  But some area with significant thunderstorms could receive anywhere from 50 to 75 mm.

A rainfall warning has been issued for:

·         Huntsville – Baysville –

·         Port Carling – Port Severn –

·         Town of Parry Sound – Rosseau – Killbear Park

·         Owen Sound – Blue Mountains – Northern Grey County

The special weather statement is in effect for:

·         Barrie – Collingwood – Hillsdale

·         Midland – Coldwater – Orr Lake

·         Orillia – Lagoon City – Washago

·         Innisfil – New Tecumseth – Angus

·         Orangeville – Grand Valley – Southern Dufferin County

·         Shelburne – Mansfield – Northern Dufferin County

·         Owen Sound – Blue Moutains – Northern Grey County

·         Haliburton – Minden – Southern Haliburton County

·         Newmarket – Georgina – Northern York Region

·         Uxbridge – Beaverton – Northern Durham Region

 

Heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and water pooling on roads. It is recommended to avoid low-lying areas.
