On this rainy Tuesday, Environment Canada has ended a special weather statement that warned of heavy downpours.

The weather authority issued the statement early Tuesday afternoon, as a system capable of producing 30 to 40 millimetres of rain moved across most of southern Ontario.

In Newmarket, heavy downpours from that system have resulted in localized flooding. Residents are reporting high waters at Yonge Street and Mulock Drive. Some low-lying neighbourhoods have also flooded.

The town says crews are cleaning catch basins and are monitoring roads and trails around Newmarket.
