An employee contracted by the City of Barrie is in hospital with serious injuries after he reportedly got his arm stuck in a machine at the garbage dump.

Barrie police responded to the industrial accident at the city garbage dump at 272 Ferndale Dr. on Thursday morning. According to police, the 28-year-old man was working near a sorting/shredding machine, when his arm somehow  was caught.

The man was transported to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries, and is in stable condition.

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour has taken over the investigation.
