Barrie police say they had to rescue two dogs from inside a car at a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Officers were called to the Wal-Mart on Bayfield Street on Sunday, just before 2 p.m. regarding two dogs in distress.

Police say they managed to get inside the car to rescue the dogs. Officers have since turned the animals over to the OSPCA.

The condition of the dogs is not known and police have not said what the specific charges the owner will be facing.
