The Town of New Tecumseth is getting a cheque from the Canadian military to pay for damage to some sports fields.

In the fall of 2014, soldiers used the Beeton Fairgrounds for a training exercise.  The weight of the vehicles and equipment damaged the soggy sports fields.

The damage was so severe the fields were unusable for all of 2015.

After months of negotiations with the Department of National Defense, the military has agreed to pay the town just under $22,000 for repairs to the grounds.
