A cyclist was injured after a collision in Barrie at about noon today.

Barrie police say a 28-year-old woman was cycling along Dunlop Street and was coming up to Boys Street just east of Anne Street. Police say a truck driving on Boys came up to a stop at Dunlop and then pulled out without seeing the cyclist.

She wasn’t able to stop in time and hit the side of the truck. Her bike is badly damaged and she has minor injuries. She was taken to hospital just in case.

Police say the 68-year-old truck driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with unsafely starting from a stopped position. Officers say drivers need to watch out for pedestrians and cyclists even more now with the warmer weather.
