A Good Samaritan is being praised for aiding a store clerk during a robbery early Friday morning.

A man entered the Mac’s Convenience store on Dunlop Street East and demanded cash from the clerk. Barrie police say the man repeatedly threatened the clerk.

A customer entered the store a short time later and the clerk was able to indicate what was going on. The customer was able to call 911, despite being confronted by the suspect.

The citizen was able to complete his purchase and leave the store while on the phone with dispatchers.

The suspect made off with a small amount of cash and was seen fleeing the store south on Mulcaster Street. No one was seriously injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, 35-years-old, 6’, with a skinny build, moustache and a goatee. He was seen wearing a green and black camo jacket with a hood, a black ball cap and dark coloured pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
