A sinkhole that closed the southbound on-ramp that links Mapleview Drive and Highway 400 on Tuesday was caused by a culvert separation.
Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation says a slight separation occurred at the joint of a steel culvert, which allowed some of the pavement to wash away.
The sinkhole closed the on-ramp for most of Tuesday – the road reopened just before 9 p.m.
During the closure crews were able to repair the joint and pavement.
