The Barrie Colts have named veteran forward Joseph Blandisi captain of the team for the 2014-15 season.

Blandisi is in his fourth season in the OHL and second with the Barrie Colts.

“A lot of guys have shown good leadership but at the end of the day Joseph was the guy that we felt would be the right leader for this group,” said Colts Head Coach Dale Hawerchuk in a release. “This decision was something we have been monitoring as the year has gone on and of course Ekblad was our captain last year so we wanted to make sure he wasn’t coming back which we didn’t think he would be, but we wanted to wait until that was a done deal.”

Blandisi is now the 16th captain in franchise history.

The Barrie Colts also named defenceman Michael Webster, Jonathan Laser and forwards Garrett Hooey and Brendan Lemieux as alternate captains of the team.
