After roughly a year of turmoil in Wasaga Beach, business is starting to turn around.

Recent changes along a popular strip on the beach has attracted many people to the town along southern Georgian Bay.

Three of the four restaurants on the waterfront shut down last year after running into financial difficulties. The shutdown sent a ripple through the entire tourism industry, but in May the town purchased seven key properties to try and turn things around.

Tourism has meant a summer job for Jessica Campbell for the past six years. “Hot, hot days, everybody is out on the beach,” adds Campbell. “You can’t even find a place on the beach it’s all just umbrellas and it’s really great since the town bought back the beach, Wasaga really came back to life it’s awesome.”

Entertainment and special events are planned for the long weekend including a street circus and an event called, Foam Fest.
