A bus strike in the Owen Sound area that would have affected schools and transit service has been adverted after new three-year deal was ratified on Friday night.

The deal is between Unifor and First Students Canada – which employs 110 drivers that work for the City of Owen Sound Transit Service and the Bluewater District School Board.

The union says the new contract gives a 5.5% raise for school bus drivers over three years and an 8.5% raise for Owen Sound transit drivers.
