An early morning break and enter has prompted a reminder from Barrie police.

Officers were contacted on Sunday after someone broke into a home in the city’s west side while the three residents were sleeping. When the homeowners awoke, police say they noticed something was off.

An investigation determined that somebody entered the house through a basement window that was left open for ventilation purposes. Police say nothing was taken.

Barrie police are reminding the public to be vigilant in locking doors and windows. They say homeowners should always ensure their homes are properly secured.
