A 32-year-old Barrie woman is facing an impaired driving charge after she was pulled over with her son inside the vehicle Saturday night.

South Simcoe Police says they stopped a car on Innisfil Beach Road near Highway 400. Police say they were investigating a traffic offence when they discovered the woman had the smell of alcohol on her breath.

She failed a roadside test and was arrested. Police say her 11-year-old son was in the car at the time and a family member was contacted and picked him up. The Children’s Aid Society was also notified.

The woman was found to have more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system, police say. Her vehicle was impounded and her licence suspended for 90 days.

Police have charged her with Drive with Over 80 mgs and she is expected in court in August.
