The driver of a car that nearly crashed into a Barrie home on Friday night has been charged.

The car was travelling on Nelson Street when Barrie police say the driver lost control of the vehicle at the Napier Street intersection.

The car struck a stop sign, a park vehicle and came to rest on the front lawn of a home.

The 86-year-old driver, a Barrie woman, suffered minor injuries and was taken Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

She has since been charged with careless driving.
