A man accused of pushing his girlfriend against a wall and dragging her through an apartment building in Barrie has been charged.

According to Barrie police, the assault happened at an apartment building located at 90 Edgehill Dr. on Friday at around 2 a.m.

Police allege the man assaulted his girlfriend several times throughout the night and at one point was throwing pots and pans at the woman. When officers arrived, they say the man was smashing a fire extinguisher.

During processing at the Barrie police station, the accused allegedly threw a bloody paper towel at the booking officer.

The 20-year-old man is charged with assault and three counts of breach of probation.

He will appear before a Barrie court at a future date.
