A 33-year-old father from Barrie has been charged after allegedly leaving his two young children home alone, while he went to play pool.

Barrie police were called to a west-end home on Saturday, just before 8 p.m. Inside, police say they found a four-year-old and a seven-year-old alone.

While officers were at the residence, the father arrived in a vehicle. According to police, the man went to play pool and left the children at home. The man has been charged with impaired driving and failing to provide the necessities of life.

The mother of the two children was located at work, and returned home to be with the children.

The accused will appear before a court at a future date.
