A man and woman have been charged by police following a two vehicle crash in Barrie on Wednesday night.

The crash happened just after 8:00 p.m. in the area of Bayfield Street and Highway 400 and when police arrived they were told a passenger walked away from the scene.

Police located the driver and say he was in an intoxicated state. He was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the police station where he took a breath test that showed he was at nearly three times the legal limit.

Police found the woman nearby and say she was also in an extremely intoxicated condition. She was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.

While under arrest, police located a drugs in her possession, 153 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of hashish and 18 Percocet. She now faces drug related charges.

Besides impaired driving, the man is also facing drug related charges.

The two will appear in court in December.
