A New Tecumseth man is facing additional charges in connection with the death of a road worker in Alliston Friday morning.

Marcello Fracassi, 31, is now charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death. On Friday he was charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

He was held for bail hearing Monday morning.

Geoffrey Gaston, 41, was part of a road painting crew working on Victoria Street just before 3 a.m. June 20 when he and a woman were struck. The woman was taken to Alliston's Stevenson Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Gaston, who was also a volunteer firefighter, died from his injuries.

The two were painting lines on the road when, it's alleged, a Ford F150 veered onto the parking spots where the employees were working and hit them before fleeing the scene.
