Final touches were being applied at Innisdale Secondary School on Thursday in preparation for the 3rd annual ‘ARTstruck’ event.

The school puts on an auction for the community which raises money for the Barrie Women & Children’s shelter.

“I feel very proud of them that they’ve take this very serious and that they really care. They’ve put a lot of their own money and innumerable hours into their work making them beautiful for tonight’s event,” said teacher Jennica Hwang.

“It’s been fun. I’ve never really had the experience of making art to sell to people,” says grade 12 student Keia Blake.

All the students in the class are in a special program called integrated arts, it’s the only program of its kind in Simcoe County and the students are inspired by each other.

“Because we are all liked minded and artistic, we can all appreciate what everyone does in the room as other classes you might not get that,” says grade 12 student Brooklyn Donnelly.

Everybody who attends Thursday’s auction will leave with a piece of art and half the money raised at the event will be going to the shelter.
