Motown legend Aretha Franklin won’t be taking the stage in Wasaga Beach.

Town officials say they were notified by event organizers on Tuesday that a proposed concert that would have seen Franklin, the Four Tops and Temptations perform had been cancelled.

Organizers say the cancellation is due to timing challenges. The concert was scheduled to take place on Aug. 13.

The town gave final immediate approval for the concert at their coordinated committee meeting last week.

It's the second concert by an established performer to be cancelled in the region this summer.

Just days ago, a concert in Parry Sound by country legend Dolly Parton was cancelled.
