An Alliston senior is in hospital after a hit-and-run on Wednesday morning.

The OPP say the 72-year-old woman was walking in the area of Church Street and Burt Avenue at around 7:30 a.m. when she was struck by a turning minivan.

According to police, the driver exited the van and asked the woman if she was injured. When she replied yes, the driver allegedly got back in the vehicle and fled the scene.

The woman was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver is described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, possibly with facial hair. The light coloured van may have damage to the hood.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
