One of the teenage drivers accused of street racing on the night of a deadly crash in Barrie in 2014 took the stand Friday in court.

The teen who testified was driving a Mazda, and the Crown alleges he was street racing with a BMW, before the BMW hit a Toyota being driven by Theresa Van Wieren-Wisch on Mapleview Drive.

Van Wieren-Wisch died in that crash.

The Mazda driver testified that he was not racing and said he didn't stay at the scene because he thought there was nothing he could to do help, adding that he didn't know first aid.

When the Crown asked why he didn't call 911, he testified that he just didn't know what to do.

He said he saw adults rushing to the scene and thought there was enough help on hand.

Closing statements in the trial will be made on Tuesday.
