The province is offering up tens of thousands of dollars in an effort to stir up new details in a 1980s’ cold case.

On Thursday, the government posted a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the 1985 disappearance of Neil McDougall.

The 40-year-old was last seen on Oct. 12, 1985 at a home in the Village of Ayton, which is located about 45 km southwest of Chatsworth. He was reported missing two days later.

An extensive search was conducted after McDougall’s vehicle was located in the village. The OPP says foul play is suspected in his disappearance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
